Roger Williams House1
The Roger Williams House was built between 1911 and 1915 at 92 Pleasant Street by Matthew Sullivan, and is noted for its status, according to Patricia Johnson, "as among the most innovative of early 20th century estate designs with sophisticated use of English Tudor motifs in restrained style". It is also noted for the fact that the estate was also the site of an earlier estate, the 1852 Ward-Dorr-Endicott House; both estates were jointly owned by the Draper family for several decades.
Following Roger Williams's death in 1942, his son Eugene maintained the property. Following Eugene's death in 1997, the property was purchased by the Town of Canton to add to the Pequit Brook Conservation District; it has been maintained by the town ever since.
