Historical Note(s): Frederick (or Frederic) Endicott was born on April 2, 1839 to John and Ann Matilda (Ellis) Endicott in Canton, Massachusetts, a place where he would spend most of his life as a civic leader holding such positions as Superintendent of Schools, Selectman, Water Commissioner, and co-founder and Library Trustee for the Canton Public Library. His profession as a civil engineer took him to New Brunswick, Maine, New York and Pennsylvania. Mr. Endicott was married to Charlotte E. Bense on April 26, 1866 and they had two daughters Charlotte (Endicott) Wilde and Helen E. Endicott. Frederick Endicott died on March 12, 1918 at the age of seventy-eight (78) of pneumonia.

Charlotte Elisabeth (Bense) Endicott was born on August 21, 1842 to William and Elizabeth VanPoelien (Knaggs) Bense in Boston, Massachusetts. As an adult she taught at the Crane School and served in the Red Cross during World War I. Mrs. Endicott was fond of the Appalachian Mountains and enjoyed writing. Charlotte (Bense) Endicott died on January 26, 1924 at the age of eight-one (81) of myocarditis.
