Edwin A. Briggs1
Edwin A. Briggs was born in Littleton New Hampshire and moved to Canton as a child, attending Revere School with Elisha White, his future wife Viola D. Reed (married January 1, 1866), and William Powers. Briggs served in the Civil War after which he returned to Canton where he worked as a Stationary Engineer at the Shepards Mills, the Stone Factory, and the Norwood Press. In the late 19th century Eswin ran the Briggs Billiard Rooms. Edwin and Viola Briggs had four children: William, Henry, Avery, and Mary.
