On the corner of Washington and Rockland Streets was Briggs Ice Cream Store, an establishment where many Canton residents spent their evenings; it was known as a place where patrons could buy non-alcoholic beverages, ice cream, candy, or tobacco products. It was run by William and Henry Briggs, the sons of Edwin A. Briggs, proprietor of Briggs Billiard Rooms.
