Plymouth Rubber Company1
The Plymouth Rubber Company was founded in 1898 and purchased land in Canton on the site of the Revere Copper Co. It produced such goods as the Slipknot Rubber Heel, raincoats, and hospital sheets. Although the company went bankrupt in 1920 it reestablished itself in 1922 while expanding its goods into friction tapes, rubber bands, and vinyl rubber hoses. In the 1980s the company began to focus on the production of rubber and vinyl tapes, becoming a leading producer of such items by the late 1990s.
