Canton Junction was built in 1835 to service the trains between Boston and Providence and served as Canton’s only train station until Canton Center was built in 1879 providing a station stop on the Stoughton Branch which was constructed in 1845. This resulted in a name change for Canton Station to Canton Junction was formally established. In 1892 the current Canton Junction Station House which was constructed with Milford Granite and brownstone trimming and was ninety (90) feet in length. For the past 120 years the Junction has continued to serve the people of Canton as a commuter rail station and has a link in the regional service between Boston and New York.
